Big Star was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971 by Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Jody Stephens, and Andy Hummel.
I always wondered what this band sounds like.
ReplyDeleteWhen Alex Chilton walked for the first time a recording studio as a teenager he recorded a million seller. (Box Tops - The letter)
Later he became an underground figure. When I was young in the eighties he was one of those dark cool songwriters from the sixties that where very influential and popular (similar to Lou Reed or maybe Iggy Pop).
I guess Big Star where with their dark beautiful music way ahead of their time in the early seventies. And here is even a version of Velvet Underground's 'Femme Fatal' and The Kinks 'Till the end of the day' included.
Thanks for this great sampler.
